Hello Thong,
Thanks for the additional detail—that helps.
Your American Fastback slant-back hard top is not the source of the issue
and typically does not change the root cause of what you’re experiencing.
Even with aftermarket tops, the water intrusion you’re seeing on the floor
is almost always coming from the same factory design limitation.
On these Wranglers, the doors seal against bare painted metal on the body
because there is no proper body-side (inside) weatherstripping installed
from the factory. That missing sealing surface is what allows water to find
its way in during rain, washes, or when the vehicle is parked at an angle.
What ends up happening is the water enters around the door perimeter, then
travels down behind trim panels and under the carpet—so by the time you
notice it, it can show up on the floor mats without an obvious entry point.
The most effective fix is to install the correct body-side
weatherstripping. This creates the proper sealing surface for the doors to
close against and addresses the issue at its source, regardless of which
top is installed on the vehicle.
I’ll include a link to the exact kit designed for your Jeep that will
resolve this once installed.
