Hi Eric,
Thanks for reaching out. The issue you’re describing at the driver door of
your 2007 JK soft top is a very common one, and it comes down to how these
vehicles are designed.
Unlike every other vehicle on the road today that has a dedicated body-side
seal, the Wrangler does not. Because of that, the door seal is trying to
press directly against painted metal instead of a proper rubber sealing
surface. That makes it difficult to maintain a consistent seal, especially
around the driver door where water typically enters from the upper corner
and works its way down.
Even though it may seem like a worn or failing seal, the reality is the
seal is doing the best it can with the surface it’s given.
The most effective solution is to add a vehicle-specific leak fix kit that
creates that missing body-side sealing surface. Once installed, it gives
the door seal something consistent to compress against and resolves the
water intrusion issue.
Below is a link to the leak fix kit that will solve your issues.
If you have any additional questions, please respond to this email or you
can call me directly to further discuss this matter.
Best regards,
Tony
