Hi Mike,

Thanks for reaching out.

What you’re describing on your 2017 JK Willys 2-door with Freedom Top
panels—water coming from the A-pillar area and completely soaking the
driver-side carpets during rain—is one of the most common leak patterns on
the JK platform.

The A-pillar and upper driver door corner are major weak points in the
factory sealing design, especially on Freedom Top models where multiple
sealing surfaces meet together.

Unlike most vehicles on the road today, the Wrangler JK does not have a
proper body-side sealing surface. Instead, the door and freedom panel seals
are trying to compress directly against painted metal. Since painted metal
is not a consistent sealing surface, small gaps develop around the
A-pillar, windshield frame, upper door corner, and freedom panel transition
areas, allowing water to work its way inside during rain.

What usually happens is the water enters from higher up around the A-pillar
area, then travels downward behind the trim and onto the carpet, making the
floorboards completely soaked.

Even though this may seem sudden, it’s actually a very common issue that
develops over time on JKs as the sealing surfaces shift and wear.

The most effective long-term solution is adding a factory-specific Jeep
leak fix kit with body-side weatherstripping. This creates the missing
sealing surface the factory design lacks, allowing the door and freedom
panel seals to compress evenly and consistently. Once installed, it
eliminates the gaps and resolves the water intrusion issue at its source.

Below is a link to the leak fix kit that will solve your issues.
