Hello John,
Thanks for reaching out. Since the leak is occurring at both front doors
during heavy rain, this points to a very common issue on the JK platform
involving the body-side sealing surfaces rather than the Bestop Sunrider
itself.
Wranglers are unique because they do not have a traditional body-side
weatherstrip channel like most vehicles on the road today. Instead, the
door seals are trying to seal directly against painted metal surfaces and
removable roof components. Over time, even slight gaps, body flex, roof
movement, or uneven pressure can allow water to bypass the seals and enter
at the upper door corners or along the door surround area.
The fact that both front doors are leaking strongly suggests the water is
traveling past the factory sealing surfaces during heavy rain and making
its way inside around the front door openings.
The Bestop Sunrider is usually not the root cause by itself. In most cases,
it simply exposes the same weak sealing areas that exist on factory
hardtops and soft tops alike.
The proper fix is adding additional vehicle-specific body-side weather
stripping that creates a secondary sealing surface between the doors and
body. This helps compensate for the factory design limitations and prevents
water from sneaking past the door seal during rain.
