2014 Jeep JK 4-Door Hardtop Leaking at Driver Door — Expert Fix

With your 2014 JK 4-door hardtop leaking on both the driver and passenger
sides and leaving puddles on the floors, the door sealing system would be
the first area I would address.

The root cause on these Jeeps usually isn't that the factory
weatherstripping itself is bad. Unlike most vehicles on the road today, the
Wrangler JK does not have a proper body-side sealing surface. The factory
door seals are trying to compress directly against painted metal. Since
painted metal isn't a consistent sealing surface, small gaps can develop
and allow water to get past the upper door area. From there, the water can
travel down behind the trim and eventually end up on the floor.

Regarding the noodles, we do not include them because your Jeep already has
them from the factory. If you feel the weatherstripping around the upper
corners of your doors, you should be able to feel the foam material inside
the factory seal.

Replacing that foam with another piece of foam generally doesn't address
the underlying problem. You're essentially replacing a component you
already have with the same type of component while the seal is still
compressing against the same painted-metal surface.

Our kit approaches the problem from the other side. The body-side
weatherstripping creates the missing gasketed sealing surface, allowing
your existing factory door seals to compress evenly and consistently. The
included drip strips also help properly redirect water to the outside of
the Jeep rather than allowing it to work its way into the cabin. An
additional benefit is a noticeable reduction in outside wind and road noise.

As for the cowl drainage area, it certainly doesn't hurt to inspect it and
make sure the drains are clear, especially when you're dealing with
significant amounts of water. However, with puddling occurring on both the
driver and passenger floors and the common JK door-sealing design issue, I
would definitely address the door sealing system as well.
