What you’re experiencing on your 2015 JK 4-door is a very common issue,
especially when water is getting into the interior but the exact source
isn’t obvious.
The reason these Jeeps leak comes down to the factory design. Unlike
virtually every other vehicle on the road today, the Wrangler does not have
a true body-side seal. Instead, the door seals are trying their best to
seal directly against painted metal. Since painted metal is not a
consistent sealing surface, water is able to work its way past the seals
and into the cabin from multiple areas.
That’s why many JK owners notice wet carpets, damp floor mats, or water
appearing in different spots without being able to pinpoint one exact entry
point. The water often enters near the upper door area and then travels
throughout the interior.
Even though it may seem like multiple unrelated leaks, they usually all
trace back to the same root cause—the lack of a proper body-side sealing
surface.
The most effective solution is adding a factory-specific Jeep leak fix kit
with body-side weatherstripping. This creates the proper sealing surface
the doors were missing from the factory, allowing the seals to compress
evenly and consistently. Once installed, it eliminates the gaps and
resolves the water intrusion issue once and for all.
