2020 Jeep Gladiator 4-Door Hardtop Leaking at Back Door Passenger Side — Expert Fix

Quick answer: A 2020 Jeep Gladiator 4-Door Hardtop leaking at the Back Door Passenger Side in All of the Above is almost never a bad door seal - it is the missing body-side weatherstripping Jeep left off the body, so the door seal has nothing to compress against. The permanent fix is adding body-side weatherstripping for the Gladiator; most owners install it themselves in under an hour with no special tools.

In Christian Banta's words
Hello, my 2020 Gladiator has been leaking for months now and I can’t deal with it anymore. I had to rip my carpet out because it got so wet and smelled in which now I’m fighting the dealership on providing me with new carpet under my extended warranty that was bought at purchase since it has been there six times for the same water intrusion issue within the two months they just can’t fix. Every time they “fix” it, the leak appears and even in some new spots. I’m done with them and I want to either bring it to a specialist or purchase your kit, I’m torn what to do. It leaks at the passenger side front and back areas and puddles by the kick panels along the edge of the door. Originally I had rubber door seal guards that’s tweaked the seal a tiny bit on the bottom parts of the door which I thought was causing this but I recently replaced them with Tufskinz bedliner material sticker ones that don’t affect the seal and it still leaks of course. Overall, it’s driving me nuts and I don’t know what to do with it. I’m done wasting time with the dealership and need a permanent solution. If you could point me in the right direction that would be great, I am considering purchasing tour kit for the JT, thank you.

Hi Christian,

Thanks for reaching out and for taking the time to explain everything
you've been through with your Gladiator.

First, I completely understand your frustration. Having your Jeep at the
dealership six times in two months for the same water intrusion problem,
only to have the leaks return or appear in new locations, is unacceptable.
Especially when the water intrusion has gotten bad enough that you've had
to remove the carpeting because of the moisture and odor.

Based on your description, the water accumulating around the passenger-side
front and rear kick panels and along the lower door openings is a very
common leak pattern on the Gladiator.

The important thing to understand is that **the problem usually isn't the
factory door seals themselves. It's the sealing system Jeep designed around
them.**

Unlike most vehicles on the road today, Jeep Wranglers and Gladiators do
not have a proper body-side sealing surface. Instead, the factory door
seals are trying to compress directly against painted metal. Since painted
metal isn't a consistent sealing surface, small gaps can develop around the
upper door areas, allowing water to enter.

Once water gets past those areas, it can travel behind the interior trim
and eventually collect along the lower door openings and kick panels. This
is why you can see water accumulating in one location even though it
originally entered somewhere completely different.

This also explains why dealerships can struggle to correct these leaks.
They often approach the problem by adjusting or replacing factory
weatherstripping. However, replacing a factory seal with another factory
seal doesn't correct the missing sealing surface that caused the problem in
the first place.

Regarding the door sill guards you mentioned, since you've already replaced
them with the thinner Tufskinz material and the leaking continues, I
wouldn't consider those guards the primary cause without further evidence.

Now, regarding your question about taking the Jeep to a specialist or
purchasing our kit, here's what I would recommend.

**Our JeepLeakFix system was designed by a specialist specifically to
address the factory sealing deficiencies responsible for these water
leaks.**

The difference is that we've already done the work of identifying the
problem, developing the sealing system, and putting together the
installation process.

Rather than paying another specialist to diagnose the same problem, you can
install the system yourself by following our detailed step-by-step
installation video. You don't need to be a professional mechanic or have
specialized experience. The video walks you through the installation so you
can properly seal your Jeep without having to rely on the dealership again.

Our body-side weatherstripping creates the missing gasketed sealing
surface, allowing your existing factory door seals to compress evenly and
consistently. The kit also includes drip strips that help redirect water to
the outside of the Jeep rather than allowing it to enter the cabin.

Since you're experiencing leaks around both the front and rear passenger
doors, I recommend installing the complete kit rather than trying to
address individual leaks one at a time.

An additional benefit is that properly sealing these areas also helps
reduce outside wind and road noise, making the cabin noticeably quieter.

Here is the correct kit for your 2020 Jeep Gladiator JT:

We are currently accepting pre-orders for the JL/JT kit due to high demand.
Our new supply of weatherstripping is scheduled to arrive this Wednesday,
and pre-orders are scheduled to ship that same day. You can place your
order now to reserve your kit.

And most importantly, you're not on your own during installation. You have
direct access to me 7 days a week. If you have a question while following
the video, you can contact me directly, and I'll help you through it.

My goal is to help you get your Gladiator properly sealed so you can
finally put this frustrating experience behind you and enjoy your Jeep
again.

Best regards,
Tony
