2019 Jeep JL 4-Door Hardtop Leaking at Not Sure — Expert Fix

The fact that all four footwell areas of your 2019 JL 4-door hardtop are
getting soaked while the Jeep is simply sitting outside in light rain is a
strong indication that water is getting past the sealing system and then
traveling underneath the carpet to the lowest points of the floor.

One of the frustrating things about Wrangler leaks is that where the water
collects isn't necessarily where it originally entered. Water can enter
around the upper door sealing areas, travel behind the interior trim and
underneath the carpet, and eventually accumulate in multiple footwells.
That can make it very difficult to determine the entry point just by
looking at the wet areas.

The root cause commonly comes down to the factory sealing design. Unlike
most vehicles on the road today, Jeep Wranglers do not have a proper
body-side sealing surface. Instead, the factory door seals are trying to
compress directly against painted metal. Since painted metal isn't a
consistent sealing surface, small gaps can allow water through even when
the factory weatherstripping appears to be in good condition.

Our body-side weatherstripping creates the sealing surface that the factory
design is missing. It gives the existing door seals a consistent gasketed
surface to compress against, helping close those gaps and prevent water
intrusion. The kit also helps make the cabin noticeably quieter by reducing
outside wind and road noise.

Since you're getting water in all four footwells, I would recommend sealing
the entire Jeep rather than trying to address only one door.

I would also recommend lifting the carpet and getting the padding
underneath it completely dry. That padding can hold a tremendous amount of
water even after the surface of the carpet feels dry.
