2007 Jeep JL 2-Door Hardtop Leaking at Not Sure — Expert Fix

Quick answer: A 2007 Jeep JL 2-Door Hardtop leaking at the Not Sure in All of the Above is almost never a bad door seal - it is the missing body-side weatherstripping Jeep left off the body, so the door seal has nothing to compress against. The permanent fix is adding body-side weatherstripping for the JL; most owners install it themselves in under an hour with no special tools.

Hi Nora,

Thanks for reaching out!

Based on your description, you're experiencing water leaks around both
doors and the windshield, along with excessive wind noise. These are very
common issues on Jeep Wranglers, and they're often related to the factory
sealing design.

One thing I want to clarify is that **your 2007 Wrangler is a JK model, not
a JL**. The JL wasn't introduced until the 2018 model year, so you'll need
the JK kit for your Jeep.

Unlike most vehicles on the road today, Jeep Wranglers do not have a proper
body-side sealing surface. Instead, the factory door seals are trying to
compress directly against painted metal. Since painted metal isn't a
consistent sealing surface, small gaps can develop around the upper doors
and A-pillar areas, allowing water and outside wind noise into the cabin.

Water entering around the upper door areas can also travel along the
windshield pillar before becoming visible inside the Jeep. This can make it
appear that the windshield itself is leaking when the water may actually be
getting past the door sealing system.

Our body-side weatherstripping creates the missing gasketed sealing
surface, allowing your existing factory door seals to compress evenly and
consistently. The included drip strips also help redirect water to the
outside of the Jeep rather than allowing it to enter the cabin.

Since you have a hardtop, **our kit also seals the Freedom Panel areas**,
which are an important part of properly sealing the upper front door areas.

Another significant benefit of our system is the reduction in outside wind
and road noise. By closing the gaps around the doors and adjoining sealing
surfaces, the cabin becomes noticeably quieter.

Here is the correct kit for your 2007 JK 2-door:

The kit includes detailed step-by-step video installation instructions, so
you can install everything yourself without needing to take your Jeep to a
repair shop.

If the windshield glass itself is leaking, that would need to be addressed
separately, but many apparent windshield-area leaks actually originate
around the upper door and A-pillar sealing areas.

If you have any questions before ordering or during installation, you have
direct access to me 7 days a week. I'm happy to help you get your Jeep
sealed up and make the cabin much quieter.

Best regards,
Tony

For this 2007 JL, the kit I'd reach for is the JL Leak Fix Kit.
