2023 Jeep JL 4-Door Sky One-Touch Leaking at Passenger Door — Expert Fix

Quick answer: A 2023 Jeep JL 4-Door Sky One-Touch leaking at the Passenger Door in Heavy Rain is almost never a bad door seal - it is the missing body-side weatherstripping Jeep left off the body, so the door seal has nothing to compress against. The permanent fix is adding body-side weatherstripping for the JL; most owners install it themselves in under an hour with no special tools.

I don’t know the vehicle yet so i am exploring options. was inquiring which kit is good for the sky one touch. i would imagine hard top. Thanks

Hi Neal,

Thanks for reaching out, and congratulations on your new 2023 Wrangler!

Based on what you described, water appearing at the bottom of the passenger
A-pillar and onto the floor mat after a heavy rain is one of the most
common leak symptoms we see on the JL platform.

The root cause comes down to the factory sealing design. Unlike most
vehicles on the road today, Jeep Wranglers do not have a proper body-side
sealing surface. Instead, the door seals are trying to compress directly
against painted metal. Since painted metal is not a consistent sealing
surface, small gaps can develop around the door openings, allowing water to
enter during rain, washing, or while driving.

Even though the factory seals may appear to be in good condition, the issue
is usually not the seals themselves—it’s the lack of a proper gasketed
sealing surface for them to compress against. That's why many Wrangler
owners continue experiencing leaks even after replacing or adjusting
weatherstripping.

For your Sky One-Touch Wrangler, you would order the Hardtop kit. The Sky
One-Touch roof does not use removable freedom panels, so there are no panel
seals included. The kit is specifically designed to address the door
sealing issue by adding the missing body-side weatherstripping that the
factory omitted.

Once installed, it eliminates the gaps that allow water intrusion and also
helps make the cabin noticeably quieter by sealing out outdoor wind and
road noise.
