Based on what you described, water collecting under the driver's side
dashboard and soaking the floor mat after heavy rain is a very common leak
pattern on the JL. Once water gets into the cabin, it can travel underneath
the flooring, which explains why you're hearing it sloshing around and
finding water on both sides.
The root cause comes down to the factory sealing design. Unlike most
vehicles on the road today, Jeep Wranglers do not have a proper body-side
sealing surface. Instead, the door seals are trying to compress directly
against painted metal. Since painted metal isn't a consistent sealing
surface, small gaps can develop around the door opening and allow water to
enter during heavy rain, washing, or while driving.
Even when the factory seals look perfectly good, the problem usually isn't
the seal itself. It's what the seal is trying to seal against. That's why
replacing the factory weatherstripping doesn't necessarily solve the
problem.
Our body-side weatherstripping creates the sealing surface that the factory
design is missing. It allows the existing door seals to compress properly
and consistently, closing those gaps and stopping water from getting into
the cabin. It also helps make the Jeep noticeably quieter by sealing out
outside wind and road noise.
Based on your description, I would recommend addressing the leak before the
water sitting underneath the flooring has a chance to cause additional
problems.
