Hi Enolah,
Thanks for reaching out!
The leaking you're experiencing on both the passenger and driver sides of
your 2017 JK 4-door hardtop is a very common issue on these vehicles. The
fact that the passenger side leaks significantly more than the driver side,
with water appearing to enter from the bottom of the doors and collecting
on the floor, is consistent with the factory door sealing system not
providing a proper seal.
One thing that's important to understand is that **where you see the water
entering isn't necessarily where it originally got past the seal.**
Water can enter around the upper door and A-pillar areas, travel down
behind the interior trim or along the door opening, and eventually appear
at the bottom of the door before collecting on the floor. This makes it
look like the leak is coming directly from the bottom when the actual entry
point may be much higher.
The root cause commonly comes down to the factory sealing design. Unlike
most vehicles on the road today, Jeep Wranglers do not have a proper
body-side sealing surface. Instead, the factory door seals are trying to
compress directly against painted metal. Since painted metal isn't a
consistent sealing surface, small gaps can develop that allow water to
enter during heavy rain.
Even when the factory weatherstripping appears to be in good condition, the
issue usually isn't the seals themselves. It's the lack of a proper
gasketed sealing surface for those seals to compress against. This is why
replacing or adjusting factory weatherstripping often doesn't solve the
problem.
Our body-side weatherstripping creates the missing sealing surface,
allowing your existing factory door seals to compress evenly and
consistently. The included drip strips also help redirect water to the
outside of the Jeep rather than allowing it to enter the cabin.
Since you're experiencing leaks on both front doors, I recommend installing
the complete kit rather than trying to address each side individually.
The kit also seals the Freedom Panel areas on your hardtop, which is an
important part of properly sealing the upper front door areas.
An additional benefit is that properly sealing these areas helps reduce
outside wind and road noise, making the cabin noticeably quieter.
Here is the correct kit for your 2017 JK 4-door:

The kit includes detailed step-by-step video instructions, so you can
complete the installation yourself without needing to take your Jeep to a
dealership or repair shop.
If you have any questions before ordering or during installation, you have
direct access to me 7 days a week. I'm happy to help you get your Jeep
completely sealed up so you can enjoy it without worrying about water every
time it rains.
Best regards,
Tony
