2014 Jeep JK 4-Door Hardtop Leaking at Passenger Door — Expert Fix

Quick answer: A 2014 Jeep JK 4-Door Hardtop leaking at the Passenger Door in All of the Above is almost never a bad door seal - it is the missing body-side weatherstripping Jeep left off the body, so the door seal has nothing to compress against. The permanent fix is adding body-side weatherstripping for the JK; most owners install it themselves in under an hour with no special tools.

It leaks on both front doors, but primarily the passenger. It pours in during rain or car wash. Just want to make sure the "JKU" will fit my JK 4 door 2014 Wrangler prior to purchase. Excited to be dry soon!

Hi Bri,

Thanks for reaching out!

Yes—the JKU kit is the correct kit for your 2014 Jeep Wrangler JK 4-door.
“JKU” simply refers to the 4-door version of the JK, so you're looking at
the right kit.

Based on your description, the leaking you're experiencing on both front
doors—especially the passenger side during rain and car washes—is a very
common issue on the JK.

The root cause usually comes down to the factory sealing design. Unlike
most vehicles on the road today, Jeep Wranglers do not have a proper
body-side sealing surface. Instead, the factory door seals are trying to
compress directly against painted metal. Since painted metal isn't a
consistent sealing surface, small gaps can develop and allow a surprising
amount of water into the Jeep.

Our body-side weatherstripping creates the sealing surface that the factory
design is missing, allowing your existing door seals to compress evenly
against a gasketed surface. The kit also includes drip strips to help
redirect water to the outside of the Jeep.

Since you have a hardtop, the kit also seals the Freedom Panel area as part
of the complete system. Rather than chasing the passenger and driver leaks
individually, I recommend installing the complete kit and sealing
everything together.

An added benefit is that the kit helps seal out outside wind and road
noise, so you should notice a quieter cabin as well.
