2014 Jeep JK 4-Door Hardtop Leaking at Passenger Door — Expert Fix

Quick answer: A 2014 Jeep JK 4-Door Hardtop leaking at the Passenger Door in Light Rain is almost never a bad door seal - it is the missing body-side weatherstripping Jeep left off the body, so the door seal has nothing to compress against. The permanent fix is adding body-side weatherstripping for the JK; most owners install it themselves in under an hour with no special tools.

Hi Ty,

Thanks for reaching out.

The fact that your 2014 JK 4-door hardtop leaks even with a garden hose on
low, particularly when you're holding the water at the top of the passenger
door, is a very good indication that you're dealing with a sealing issue
rather than a roof leak.

The water reaching the front passenger floorboard is consistent with water
getting past the upper door seal and then traveling down into the cabin.

The root cause comes down to the factory sealing design. Unlike most
vehicles on the road today, the Wrangler JK does not have a proper
body-side sealing surface. Instead, the door seals are trying to compress
directly against painted metal. Since painted metal isn't a consistent
sealing surface, even a small gap can allow water through.

This is why replacing the factory seals doesn't necessarily solve the
problem. You're replacing the seal, but it's still trying to compress
against the same painted metal surface.

Our body-side weatherstripping creates the sealing surface that the factory
design is missing. It allows the existing door seal to compress evenly and
consistently, closing those gaps and stopping water intrusion. It also
helps make the cabin noticeably quieter by sealing out outside wind and
road noise.

Based on your description, your Jeep is exactly the type of leak our system
was designed to address.
