Hi Josh,
Thanks for reaching out and for the detailed information.
Based on what you described, it certainly sounds like your Jeep is
experiencing the common JK door seal issue that we discuss in our videos.
When water repeatedly enters through the upper door and A-pillar areas, it
often ends up soaking the carpet and padding underneath. Unfortunately,
once that moisture becomes trapped, surface rust on the floorboards is
usually not far behind.
The root cause comes down to the factory sealing design. Unlike most
vehicles on the road today, the Wrangler JK does not have a proper
body-side sealing surface. Instead, the door seals are trying to compress
directly against painted metal. Since painted metal is not a consistent
sealing surface, small gaps can develop around the upper door openings,
allowing water to enter during rain, washing, or while driving.
The good news is that this issue is very predictable, and we've helped
thousands of Jeep owners solve it. Our leak fix kit creates the missing
body-side sealing surface that the factory design lacks, allowing the door
seals to compress evenly and consistently. Once installed, it eliminates
the gaps that allow water intrusion and stops the leak at its source.
While every Jeep is a little different, what you've described is exactly
the type of leak our system was designed to correct. The sooner the leak is
addressed, the better, especially since standing water can continue to
damage carpet, padding, wiring, and eventually the floor pan itself.
Below is a link to the leak fix kit that will solve your issues.
