Hi Michael,
Thanks for reaching out!
The leaking you're experiencing around the driver door of your 2019 JL
2-door hardtop is a very common issue on these vehicles. The fact that
water is dripping down the inside of the door, collecting around the
plastic trim, and eventually making its way onto the carpet is consistent
with water getting past the upper door sealing area.
One thing that's important to understand is that **where you see the water
dripping isn't necessarily where it originally entered the Jeep.**
Water can get past the upper door seal, travel down behind the interior
trim, and collect along the plastic door sill before eventually spilling
onto the carpet. This is why the leak can appear to be coming from the
lower portion of the door when the actual entry point may be much higher.
The root cause commonly comes down to the factory sealing design. Unlike
most vehicles on the road today, Jeep Wranglers do not have a proper
body-side sealing surface. Instead, the factory door seals are trying to
compress directly against painted metal. Since painted metal isn't a
consistent sealing surface, small gaps can develop around the upper door
and A-pillar areas, allowing water to enter during heavy rain.
Even when the factory weatherstripping appears to be in good condition, the
problem usually isn't the seals themselves. It's the lack of a proper
gasketed sealing surface for those seals to compress against. This is why
replacing or adjusting the factory weatherstripping often doesn't solve the
problem.
Our body-side weatherstripping creates the missing sealing surface,
allowing your existing factory door seals to compress evenly and
consistently. The included drip strips also help redirect water to the
outside of the Jeep rather than allowing it to enter the cabin.
Since your Jeep has a hardtop, **the kit also seals the Freedom Panel
areas**, which is an important part of properly sealing the upper front
door areas.
An additional benefit is that properly sealing these areas helps reduce
outside wind and road noise, making the cabin noticeably quieter.
Here is the correct kit for your 2019 JL 2-door:

The kit includes detailed step-by-step video installation instructions, so
you can complete the installation yourself without needing to take your
Jeep to a dealership or repair shop.
Since water has already reached the carpet, I would also recommend checking
the padding underneath and making sure it's completely dry. That padding
can hold a surprising amount of moisture even after the surface of the
carpet feels dry.
If you have any questions before ordering or during installation, you have
direct access to me 7 days a week. I'm happy to help you get your Jeep
completely sealed up so you can enjoy it without worrying about water every
time it rains.
Best regards,
Tony
